The Senior
Boys Baseball Team won (4) consecutive baseball
games to qualify for the MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL R.B.I.
WORLD SERIES.
The RBI
program began in 1995 and this is the first time
the CLEVELAND Senior Boys Team has gone to the World Series.

Collinwood High hit a 3-run HR in the last inning for
the win.

The R.B.I.
World Series is held in Los Angeles California on
August 8 – 12. All expenses are paid by Major
League Baseball.
Our team
manager is a Cleveland Police Officer, Pedro Guerra Sr.
One of the
coaches is a Charles Smith, who grew up and played at
Marion Motley Field, went on to graduate from John Adams
High School and was successful in his baseball career.
Mr. Smith was a starting pitcher on the Major League
Level for the Florida Marlins in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
The Cleveland
Indians will recognize this team before the start of
their game against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday August
1ST at Jacob’s Field.

The, Sr. Division boys Team representing Cleveland in
the Mid-Atlantic Regional R.B.I. (Reviving Baseball in
Inner Cities) Tournament beat Detroit to win the
Championship. The tournament, held in Pittsburgh, Pa.
July 12-15 is sponsored by Major League Baseball and the
Major League Players Association.
The boys, ages 19 and under, were chosen in tryouts for
those playing on Cleveland Baseball Federation Connie
Mack/RBI teams. They beat teams from Pittsburgh,
Indianapolis, Gary, and Detroit. They advance to
represent the Mid-Atlantic Region in The R.B.I. World
Series held in Compton, California August 7 - 12.

Coaches are: Pedro Guerra, Luis Erazo, Javier Smith,
Chuck Smith, Leroy Suarez.
The Senior Girls Team ,representing Cleveland, finished
as runner-up in the girls Fast Pitch Softball
Mid-Atlantic Tournament beating Indianapolis & Detroit,
losing to Pittsburgh.
